More for Four
North Carolina’s More for Four program gives four-year-olds the skills that help them succeed in school. In the program, children prepare for Kindergarten by learning basics like letters, colors, shapes, and numbers, as well as work on developing positive relationships with their teachers and peers.
Bertie County has two locations that serve children from the entire county. Bus transportation is provided for children enrolled at either site:
- The Powellsville site serves children from Aulander, Lewiston, Woodville, Roxobel, Kelford, Colerain and Powellsville.
- The Askewville site serves children from Askewville, Windsor, Merry Hill and Indian Woods.
Eligibility and Enrollment
Enrollment in the program is limited to those most in need. Eligibility is determined by factors such as:
- Family income
- If your child has any difficulty speaking English
- If your child has any disabilities, health conditions, or other special needs
